Miscast Commentary was blessed with a lot of great news this week. First, as of today, we have topped 2000 followers on twitter. This is an achievement that we are very proud of and we appreciate everyone who has followed us on Social Media. Second, as a Canadian podcast, monitoring our ratings in the US in real time is difficult. We are pleased to announce, however, that we ranked #13 in the Film & TV Category on iTunes and remain in the top 100 as of the last data we have received. This means the world to us and we hope that you keep listening and telling other people that we are out here. Thank you all!

Keep an ear out during our Back to the Future Episode for another Contest. One Lucky (?) Fan outside of Canada will win some yummy Canadian Treats. Listen for the contest instructions, then follow said instructions. It's that easy!

What a humbling experience to reach 1000 twitter followers. We are so appreciative of all of your support and promise that we will live up to it. But the Soc-Me doesn't end there! Make sure to like our Facebook page and follow us on Instagram (@miscastcommentary) and the guys on Twitter (@jkfindlay and @MiscastTodd). Thank you all again.

Thank you all for helping us get over 500 followers on twitter in the past few days. We are very proud of our show and our social media accounts and really appreciate the support on all media. Thank you again!

Well, it seems like we can't catch a break. Our very own Todd Murray fell ill and we were unable to record the latest episode "They Live," so Joe called an audible and got the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Episode Re-recorded with his daughter, Abigail. This is one of very few Safe for Work episodes, so check it out.

December 22 - schedule change

Due to a technical Issue with the Harry Potter Episode, it will need to be re-recorded and could not be released this week. As an alternative, we present a previously unreleased episode from almost a year ago, Tim Burton's directorial debut, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Go back with the guys and watch an old favourite. The Christmas release of Die Hard is still on schedule. Stay tuned for the Harry Potter Episode in the near future.

With the end of the year upon us and Todd still at sea, Joe is bringing in some special guests to fill in over the holidays. Joe is making it a family affair when his wife, Carrie and Daughter, Abby, revisit the show to comment on some more favourites. See the schedule below.

December 15 - Coming Attractions

December 22 - Special Guest: Abigail Findlay

December 25 - Christmas Special with Special Guest: Carrie Findlay

December 29 - Coming Attractions

We hope that you all come out and celebrate the Holidays with us. Put your jammies on and snuggle in for a couple of Movie Nights with Miscast Commentary.

October 30 - bonus episode dropping tomorrow!

Fans of bonus things rejoice! Joe and Todd will be lending their commentary to an all time horror classic, 1978's Halloween! There will still be a Coming Attractions Episode on Friday. An extra episode of a free podcast? You might be asking yourselves what you have done to deserve such a treat. The answer is simple... We love our listeners! Enjoy!

Joe and Todd take you through their all night recording session in this new Youtube video.

So as we were desperately stalking our page to see who has been listening, we noticed an issue with our latest episode where there was a large gap about 10 minutes in. We republished the file and that gap is gone. There is a gap at the very end of the show now, but it is after we sign off. You can either skip ahead to our outro or don't. Our feelings won't be hurt. We apologize for the issue.

August 18, 2017 - today's episode

Today's scheduled episode will be delayed until tomorrow. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Twitter for updates.

August 9, 2017 - Upcoming episodes

We will be breaking formula for the next couple of weeks. With our first anniversary on the horizon, we have decided to take a look back on some of our favourite moments from the year. This week, we will have a look at some outtakes that occurred over the 53 episodes that we have done so far. We hope you  come celebrate with us!

August 1, 2017 - R.I.P. George Romero

You may have noticed in this past week's Coming Attractions episode that, while we announced that George Romero's Dawn of the Dead would be our next movie, that we did not mention the passing of George Romero. This is because the episode was recorded back in May, before Todd had to take to the seas once more. We wanted to take a moment now to talk about Romero and his impact on the film industry and our lives. George Romero is the first person in my experience in film who both created an entire horror sub-genre and created a universe in which many movies lived. These concepts have evolved over time and allowed the Horror industry to evolve in ways that made movies scary and gross again in a time when I thought we had all been desensitized. The found footage movies (Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity) and torture porn (Saw, Hostel - And The Passion of the Christ technically) gave us different types of scares and the ability to make multiple separate movies wherein the events of each movie cross over into each other has allowed for such things as the Marvel Cinematic Universe to evolve. Yes there were expanded universes in the past, but Romero did in in such a way that you experienced the universe without the need for crossover characters that let you know "hey, this is all the same." He was also great at putting his message into the context of his stories that were clear without beating you over the head. Most horror movies are about avoiding the monster. Romero's movies get you to ask who the monsters really are. From any of his Zombie movies or a movie like Monkey Shines, human nature plays into  the root of the evil in the story in a way that you don't get out of your basic slasher flicks. It is what has made The Walking Dead so interesting. It is a part of why Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg could make Shaun of the Dead be Funny and, at times, sad. We hope our episode this Friday does him justice. If anyone could come back, I would wager it would be you George, but instead, Rest In Peace.

June 18, 2017 - delayed episode

We are so sorry about the delay in the release of this week's episode. As Joe explained in his special announcement on Friday, he was on vacation celebrating his anniversary with his wife, former guest host Carrie Findlay, and was unable to upload the episode. It is up now and we hope you enjoy it. Remember to tune in next week for part 2 of the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Episode and then we will be back the following week with a Coming Attractions Episode.

May 22, 2017 - special thanks

We have been seeing a bump in listeners in the last few weeks and we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all who have given us a shot and to Cast Crunch and The Echo Project for allowing us to get ourselves noticed. To all new listeners, we invite you to check out our back catalogue. Movies like Star Wars, Aliens, Robocop, Bloodsport and Gremlins have all received Miscast Commentary and we have a lot of fun and epic movies waiting in the wings.

May 4, 2017 - May the 4th be with you

Happy Star Wars Day Everyone! Make sure to celebrate one of the all time great achievements in pop culture in whatever way you have time to do so. Ideally, forsake all friends and family and watch every movie.

The most important day of the year is coming up! Anyone who has heard the latest episode knows that our next episode is going to be Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. And with Joe's favourite movie is going to be covered by the guys, it is only fair to change up the schedule a little bit to accommodate a Star Wars Movie airing on Star Wars Day. So Episode 19 will be released a day early on Thursday, May 4th. We hope that everyone celebrating Thursday with a little Star Wars Marathon, we hope that you change it up a bit and watch Episode IV with Miscast Commentary turned on.

April 10, 2017 - Summer Favourites

Joe and Todd are recording ahead for the summer. If you want to hear us talk about a specific movie, e-mail us at podcast@miscastcommentary.com or tweet at us @miscastpodcast with the hashtag #MiscastRequest. Let us know why you want commentary for this movie and if yours gets picked, we will read your request on the podcast.

March 8, 2017 - new ways to reach us

As of today, we have official miscastcommentary.com e-mail addresses. You can reach us in any of the following ways.

For general e-mails, questions and feedback for the podcast:

For e-mails regarding technical issues with the show (eg. the show is cutting off, there is an audio issue, etc.):

For e-mails directed towards Joe. Preferably fans and little to no death threats:

For e-mails directed towards Todd. (NOTE* He is not permitted to sell his blood through the website any more, so please don't ask):

We hope to hear from you.

It is with great sadness that we report the death of one of the true greats in our eyes, Bill Paxton. His larger roles in movies like Aliens, Weird Science, True Lies, Tombstone, Apollo 13, Twister, The Terminator, Predator 2, Edge of Tomorrow, Nightcrawler and so many others proved that his involvement, whether a large or small role, would always be memorable. More recently he had taken on more TV, starring in Big Love, appearing in an arc of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and most recently, Training Day. Our thoughts go out to the Paxton Family at this time. Rest In Peace Bill. We say this not as a joke, but with the greatest respect. Game over man.

As of February 19, we have been doing this podcast for 6 months. We were so excited to do this together and the excitement has only grown. We couldn't have imagined the support we would receive. We couldn't have imagined the amount of listeners outside of Canada (or our home town to be honest). What we could have imagined is the amount of fun we would have seeing these old movies again and we are so proud to share our passion with you all. We have noticed a spike in listeners from different areas and couldn't be happier. Ashburn is not the only area of Virginia being represented anymore (Shout out to Boydton!). The Bay Area is getting more Hyphy with listeners in San Jose (I am still unclear if they are technically Bay Area, but they still rock) joining Mountain View and San Francisco. Countries from all continents other than Antarctica (Screw the Penguins) have given us a shot and that is all that we could have asked for. We keep looking to improve the show and find more ways to entertain you all. We continue to hope that you all reach out to us and share your feedback, requests, memories of the movies we watch or just brag that you are the first Super Fan (Which we still have yet to identify). Cheers to another 6 months and way beyond!

February 13. 2017 - Taking requests

At the moment, Todd and Joe are recording ahead of schedule in advance of the summer to keep the show running while Todd is away for work. We have a strong lineup so far, but would love to hear some feedback from you guys. E-mail us at miscastcommentary@gmail.com or through the website with any suggestions and why you suggest that movie. Any ones we do will get credit on the show.

January 22, 2017 - naming names

As heard in our last episode, we have assigned yet another name to our growing list of anonymous super fans. We present... Grifrau, from San Francisco, CA. We warn our listeners... the names will get stupider as we go along. It's not that we aren't creative... We just would love to connect with you and are afraid that giving better names won't help us do that. Darnell... Great name. Tristina... Made up, but passable. Grifrau... now we are getting into some stuff that sounds like a German translation of a Harry Potter Villain. We love that we have such loyal listeners at such an early stage and we want you all to be a part of this with us. We want to include listener e-mails in our coming attractions episodes and hear about what you like and dislike about the show. We are easy to reach. Hit us up at miscastcommentary@gmail.com or by clicking "Contact" and writing a message there (which, incidentally, goes to the same e-mail address). We're giving this show back to you, the people. I don't know where I heard that recently, but it sounds more sincere coning from me... and perhaps Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

December 23, 2016 - Another contender

With Ashburn, VA's Darnell and Mountain View CA's Tristina, we now have a new contender for super fan from San Francisco. Whoever you are, get in touch with us and be named Miscast Commentary's first super fan!

December 23, 2016 - daddy/daughter time

Our newest episode is out and it is, sadly, the last we are doing with Abby for the time being. We are so proud of the great job she did and definitely hope to do other ones in the future. In the meantime, we will be releasing a Special Episode on Christmas day featuring Joe's wife Carrie. Give the episodes a listen.

Anyone keeping track of Todd on Twitter has already heard that he is back in Sailor mode for a while. What does this mean for the Podcast, you ask? Relax, we've got you covered. Joe will be hosting along side some special guests until Todd returns. Stay tuned to find out who will be at the table with Joe and what movies we'll be doing.

november 21, 2016 - new blog post

Joe has written a new blog about Movie Commentary and how it inspired the podcast. Check it out here.

It's not generally Joe and Todd's goal to create division among the show's listeners... But what the hell. We are looking for the person who is willing to take the Mantle of our first Super fan. When looking at the metrics of our podcast, we can see what countries and cities listen to us and what they are listening to. It's like Big Brother is watching, only to find out if you liked our episode on The Wizard or Nightmare on Elm Street 3 better. We can officially say that there are more listeners from the U.S. than from our home country of Canada, so thank you to our neighbours to the south for the support (But we will still spell Neighbours with a U). The top cities listening are our home town of St. Catharines, Ontario and Toronto, Ontario. We can't officially count those, because those cities are full of Friends and Family just waiting to hear us fall apart on the air. The two most consistent cities that don't include our family, however, are Ashburn, Virginia and Mountain View, California. They have listened to every episode without fail. We are looking to identify them so that we can thank them for giving a couple of dummies a chance. We have given temporary names to these fans. Darnell (Ashburn) and Tristina (Mountain View). If you are from one of these cities and are looking to claim your rightful place as our first Super fan, contact us either by the web page's contact tab above or by contacting us directly at miscastcommentary@gmail.com. You can also reach us on Twitter (@miscastpodcast) or on Facebook. Let's use the honour system here and pay homage to the first Super fan. Leave us your first name, screen name, any name you want to leave that isn't Darnell or Tristina (unless somehow we nailed it). It's your move Super fan!

NOVEMBER 12, 2016

Sorry for the delay, but the latest episode has been released. The guys explain it all and then some in the newest Coming Attractions.

OCTOBER 31, 2016

Happy Halloween! We hope that tonight, after the tricking and or the treating is complete, you will sit down with us and watch our bonus episode featuring the cult classic "Blood Diner." Be sure to check it out and stay tuned for another new episode on Friday, November 4.

Miscast Commentary will be releasing a Bonus Episode on Halloween, where the guys will do a full commentary on a movie they deemed Halloween-worthy. Another new episode will also be released next Friday. Check out the latest episode to find out what Movie's we'll be watching.

Joe released a new blog today. In it he writes about watching movies that immerse you in new worlds (or at least change the rules of the world you live in) and what the experience means to him. Check it out.

As announced on last Friday's Episode, our commentary will be for the 1984 classic "Revenge of the Nerds." Watch along with us this week. Make sure to like, subscribe and comment wherever you hear the show. It makes a big difference in getting our names out there.
